What to Expect With MonaLisa Touch at Entice

Consultation

Your provider evaluates what may be contributing to your symptoms before recommending treatment. Vaginal dryness, irritation, and discomfort can be related to hormonal changes, vaginal tissue health, pelvic floor dysfunction, or other conditions. Your evaluation helps determine whether MonaLisa Touch is appropriate and whether another or complementary treatment should be part of your plan.

Treatment

The laser portion takes about 5 minutes. No anesthesia is required, and most patients describe a mild vibration or warmth rather than pain. Topical numbing is used for comfort when appropriate. During internal treatment, the laser is delivered through a specialized vaginal applicator. External treatment may also be performed when vulvar symptoms are present.

Plan for 30 to 45 minutes at the office, including preparation. MonaLisa Touch is typically performed as a series of three to four sessions, scheduled about four weeks apart. Your provider will recommend a treatment plan based on your symptoms and whether internal, external, or combined treatment is appropriate.

Aftercare

Avoid intercourse, tampons, and anything else inside the vagina for 48 hours following internal treatment. Most patients can otherwise resume normal activity as tolerated.

External treatment requires additional aftercare. Patients are typically advised to avoid intercourse for seven days and strenuous exercise for three to four days while the area heals. Gentle cleansing, an occlusive ointment, and loose, breathable clothing may also be recommended. Your provider will give you aftercare instructions specific to your treatment.
